Anti-drug abuse advocate, Mr. Kushtain Aburof Mustapa, has called for unprescribed herbal drugs to be included in the wider national conversation on drug abuse.

According to him, herbal medicines serve as the foundation for many pharmaceutical drugs, and for that reason, they must be treated as an important component of drug abuse education and prevention.

Mr. Mustapa made these comments on the sidelines of a seminar organized by final-year students of the University of Ghana’s Department of Education, which centered on drug abuse and its impact on student development.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Univers News, he stressed that misinformation and limited awareness are major contributors to drug addiction among students. He further cautioned against the potential dangers associated with the misuse of unprescribed herbal drugs.
